Institute for Sports
Thesis project
Objective:
The project aimed at conceptualizing an innovative sports institute in Pune, addressing the critical lack of sports facilities in India. By prioritizing user experience, the design integrates functional, accessible, and engaging spaces catering to athletes, students, and the local community.
User Research:
A comprehensive study was conducted to understand the needs, behaviors, and aspirations of potential users, including aspiring athletes, sports enthusiasts, students, and local residents. This research included interviews, surveys, and observational studies to gather insights into their daily routines, sports-related activities, and expectations from a sports facility.
Design Approach:
Based on the insights from user research, the urban design project employed a user-centric approach to create an environment that is not only conducive to sports education and training but also fosters community engagement and well-being.
The institute offers a range of sports facilities, designed to be accessible to individuals of all skill levels and physical abilities. This includes state-of-the-art training areas, versatile playing fields, and specialized equipment.
The design incorporates communal spaces for local residents, creating a hub for social interaction and community events. This fosters a sense of belonging and encourages community participation in sports.
Emphasizing sustainability, the project includes eco-friendly materials, energy-efficient systems, and green spaces, aligning with environmental considerations and the well-being of users.
Classrooms and learning spaces are designed to provide interactive and engaging educational experiences, with a focus on sports science, health, and fitness.
